What people are saying...
Great food and great experience.

We've been going here for years, and last week we stopped in for some salmon for dinner. While I was paying, they asked if I wanted to taste the Kahlua Bread Pudding. WHAT?? I had no idea they were making desserts here? It was warm and delicious, straight out of the oven, with a perfect dollop of whipped cream. They let me taste the Tuna Bolognese they were cooking too. I had never even heard of that.

Have you ever watched that show - The Best Thing I Ever Ate? They have NEVER had this. It was so delicious! That night we had it on pasta, and made a small pizza with it the next night. We fought over the last of it -- just by the spoonful. I couldn't believe it wasn't meat - but it was definitely different - just rich, delicious sauce with a hint of the sea. I want to put it on everything I eat. And, we had a such a great conversation with Chef Joe, he couldn't have been nicer -- we talked about food, finding local sourcing, gluten-free options, past jobs, and his plan for Breakwater in the future.

Whether you've been there before or not -- go soon. They have it all -- fresh, delicious food, and excellent, friendly service.

Fresh! Perfect Cape Spot.

Wish we'd gone here sooner! I had the lobster dinner...it was tender and sweet- which is a sign that they're cooking with finesse...not like a factory. Had a lobster at a certain outdoor touristy waterfront place elsewhere and it was overcooked, flavorless, and tough, despite good reviews. Breakwater's is an actual fish market so there's a great freshness vibe overall. The strawberry shortcake was perfect. My friend had fish&chips, which I tried, and it was super tender and tasty. Nice outdoor seating and the owner even chatted with us inside about lobsters. Great friendly family atmosphere. Don't bother going anywhere else.

Best fish and chips!

It's also a seafood market. That has excellent smoked fish and good prices. They even recycle! Right off the bike path. My favorite place to bike to what I didn't want to cook.

Great food and friendly service!!

Very nice outdoor seating and decent beer selections. Fried fish is fantastic and some unique dishes on the menu as well. The owners let us try some great soups on the house which was delicious. Very friendly people. Only suggestion would be to add some music to the Outdoor atmosphere. Otherwise great experience all around!

This is truly a local gem.

As Cape Codders we find Breakwater Seafood to serve the best fried clams on the Cape. An extra special bonus is the Portugese fish stew....a must try!

Going back? You bet!

We have gotten wonderful fresh fish from the market to grill. Today after a 25 mile peddle ending next to Breakwater we stopped in for lunch and sat outside in their cute outdoor area. You order at the window, server was so very helpful explaining the grain/seafood bowls etc. We had our appetites set on the fish and chips and goodness were they good, no they were fantastic! Our server and her husband the chef even brought us the lobster bisque and Portuguese fish soup to try!! They were both superb! Going back? You bet!

Freshest fish you'll find...

The fish is the freshest you'll find anywhere on the Cape. I've bought the cod, salmon and haddock in the past, but decided on the swordfish last week it was superb just grilled with light seasoning and a wedge of lemon. The market is bright and clean and staff is pleasant and accommodating.

Delicious, fresh fish...

We went to Breakwater Fish Market twice on our vacation. The first time we picked up swordfish steaks and then we returned two nights later to buy some natural salmon steaks. Both times we also purchased cooked shrimp and cocktail sauce.

The fish was very fresh. We grilled the swordfish and salmon - both were delicious. Our guests raved about the shrimp cocktail as well (the cocktail sauce is really good). Prices were a bit high but not unreasonable for a fish market in-season on the Cape. Loses a bubble for slow service that can be a bit standoffish.

Definitely will return next year!

Very Fresh and Clean...

4 parents 3 kids and we all had a wonderful lunch here after a long walk on the Brewster flats at low tide. We were surprised how good the food was for a Monday afternoon. Niece and nephew were quiet eating chowder. My daughter who is picky didn't speak until she finished her lobster roll...We had an app of smoked bluefish we sneaked in from their fish market ha ha and that was delish. We also had several fried options, oyster and clam rings, and taste was better than most at more of a family oriented price. Everything just seemed super fresh and clean. It was a good family place to share your plate....We went back later in the day and picked up a couple dozen of oysters to shuck from their fish market, and the guy practically gave me a verbal tour of the places where the local oysters were harvested...we talked about how good the lunch was in the car afterwards kind of deal....place has very limited outdoor seating tho, but that was an issue for us.

Great seafood take out...

We ordered takeout over the telephone. Our first experience eating in Brewster. They were friendly and knowledgable and quick. We ordered a dozen raw oysters. Packed in a plastic container on ICE. Super cold and delicious. Clam Chouder was hot and creamy and good. I had the lobster roll, again great eats, she order the cod which was the best she ever had. If your within 50 miles of Breakwater...go!

Great place to buy fish to cook at home...

We dropped in after eating across the parking lot at Guapo's Mexican. Fresh fish is reasonably priced, looks fresh and they will cut any portion you wish. Striped bass was excellent and considerably cheaper then other fish stores in the area.

Take-out swordfish a hit!...

We ordered broiled swordfish with veggies/rice to go, which was delicious. Ample servings at a reasonable price. The "restaurant" has no indoor seating, but does have a deck with umbrellas, where you can eat your counter order if you wish. Not a lot of options for kids There is a fish market attached that we did not try, but may in the near future. Everything looked fresh and delicious; everything was clearly identified and priced. Conveniently located on Underpass Road, right off the bike path.

Nice Fresh Swordfish...

We bought several pounds of fresh swordfish to grill for a large group. The staff was helpful, bringing nice cuts from out back when the supply in the counter looked a little meager. It made for a tasty meal!
